Nuova Battipav VIP 2125 tile cutter, L = 1250 mm

The Battipav VIP 2125 electric tile cutter is, in my opinion, one of the best tile cutters I have worked with. It is made for cutting ceramic tile and porcelain stoneware. Of course, I know of no perfect tile cutter, so let me set out its strengths and its weak points:

Strengths of the Battipav VIP 2125:

• a long-lived, powerful induction motor;
• the speed is right for a perfect cut not only in porcelain stoneware but in ceramic tile too;
• the 200 mm blade is the optimal size for a chip-free straight cut and for chamfering (cutting at 45);
• the motor lifts together with the blade;
• direct drive from the motor to the blade keeps the design simple;
• when you lock the motor at any height there is no sideways shift;
• 8 bearings running on metal inserts in a solid aluminium rail give the best rigidity of ALL the competition;
• the guard stays horizontal at all times and gives the best protection from spray;
• the legs fold neatly under the tray and lock for transport and storage;
• light weight;

Weak points of the Nuova Battipav VIP 2125:

• the accessories are very expensive (table extension, long side stop and so on);
• adjusting the blade alignment is difficult, close to impossible;
• the tray is well painted but it is metal;
• the aluminium pads last well, but I would rather they were rubber-faced.
